June 5-7 - 2020 Annual Conference Dates
The 2020 Iowa Annual Conference is being planned to begin early Friday afternoon, June 5 and close late Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2020. This change responds to one of the more often named requests in annual conference evaluations, which asked that the length of the annual conference session be shortened. This change will have the effect of reducing expenses incurred by Annual Conference lay and clergy members and their local churches and lowering the cost to hold the Annual Conference Session, something that is funded through Conference Apportionments. July 1 - Time for Another Set of Eyes - deadline extended

SE District Professional Interviews and Apportionments - Message from Conference Superintendent, Doug Cue
This year when we gather for our professional interviews in the fall, I am asking each pastor to bring with them their plan for guiding their church to 100% payment of apportionments. I am notifying you of this now, so you will have time to develop your plan with your respective churches, and to put it in place. First thing on our agenda will be a discussion of this plan including where you stand and how you will get to 100%. If you believe that you will have trouble with this plan, please let me know and we will arrange for a training event around apportionments, financial planning, budgeting and stewardship in general. Blessings, Doug
Mabaan Flood Relief
The Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church seeks to raise $200,000 for Mabaan Flood Relief (tents, mosquito nets, medicine, food). In July 2019 heavy rainfall from a weather phenomenon known as the Indian Ocean Dipole flooded Mabaan County displacing hundreds of thousands. We in Iowa know the ravages of flooded land and homes. Resources and information are available on the Iowa Conference UMC website. www.iaumc.org/MFR
If you want to send a contribution directly, please write a check to “Iowa Annual Conference” and include this on the memo line: #53321-MF. You may send it to Iowa Annual Conference, 2301 Rittenhouse St., Des Moines, IA 50321.
Iowa U.M. Camps Campaign
The first-ever Iowa United Methodist Camps Annual Campaign is in its third week with positive results. “We are thrilled that people are saying yes to outdoor youth ministry,” says Duane Daby, campaign chair. “For young people camping is so often the catalyst for faith formation and discipleship. The Iowa Board of Camps and Retreats is positioning itself to thrive not just this year, but future years.” READ MORE.....
